An opinion paragraph states your point of view and supports it with reasons.
🔹 Structure:
1. Topic sentence — state your opinion clearly.
2. Reason 1 + explanation or example.
3. Reason 2 + explanation or example.
4. Concession (optional) — acknowledge the other side.
5. Concluding sentence — restate opinion differently.
🔹 Opinion starters:
• I strongly believe that...
• In my opinion... / I think...
• As far as I am concerned...
🔹 Reason connectors:
• First of all, ... / Firstly, ...
• In addition, ... / Furthermore, ...
• However, ... (concession)
• To conclude, ... / In conclusion, ...
🔹 Example — Topic: 'Should children have less homework?'
I strongly believe that students should have less homework. First of all, too much homework causes stress and leaves no time for rest. Secondly, students need free time to play, exercise and be creative — these activities are also important for their development. However, some homework is useful to reinforce what is learned in class. In conclusion, I think a balance is needed: less homework, but better quality.
📝 Model paragraph — Should schools have uniforms?
I firmly believe that school uniforms are a good idea. First of all, uniforms create equality among students — nobody judges you based on your clothes or family wealth. In addition, uniforms save time in the morning because you don't need to choose what to wear. Furthermore, they create a sense of belonging and school identity. However, some people argue that uniforms limit personal expression. In my opinion, this is a small price to pay for the advantages they bring. To conclude, I think all schools should require uniforms.

Write a full opinion paragraph (6-8 sentences) on: 'Should students wear school uniforms?'
Correction
Example: I strongly believe that school uniforms are beneficial. Firstly, they promote equality among students regardless of wealth. In addition, they give schools a professional and organised image. However, some students feel that uniforms prevent them from expressing their personality. Despite this, I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. To conclude, I support the use of school uniforms in all schools.
Improve this weak paragraph: 'I think sport is good. Sport is fun. Sport is healthy. Sport is important.'
Correction
I strongly believe that sport is essential for students. First of all, it keeps the body healthy and prevents illness. In addition, team sports teach important values like discipline, cooperation and respect. To conclude, all schools should encourage students to practise sport regularly.
