Exercices Corrigés
What is a 'climax' in a narrative?
Correction
The climax is the turning point of the story — the moment of highest tension or the most important event, after which the situation begins to resolve.
What is the difference between first person and third person omniscient narration?
Correction
First person uses 'I' — the narrator is a character and only knows their own thoughts. Third person omniscient uses 'he/she/they' and the narrator knows ALL characters' thoughts and feelings.
What is foreshadowing? Give an example.
Correction
Foreshadowing is a hint in the story about what will happen later. Example: 'The sky turned dark and the wind grew cold' before a storm (or disaster) occurs.
What does 'theme' mean in a narrative text?
Correction
The theme is the central idea or message of the story — what the author wants the reader to understand or feel. Examples: friendship, justice, the importance of education.
Name three elements that create atmosphere in a narrative.
Correction
Description of the setting, weather/nature imagery, sensory details (sounds, smells, colours), and the tone of the narration.
