Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Application for the 2025 National Excellence Scholarship
I am writing to apply for the National Excellence Scholarship for the academic year 2025-2026. I am currently a student in the 4e class at Lycée Thierno Mamadou Sall in Dakar, where I have consistently achieved top results in all subjects.
I believe that this scholarship would enable me to continue my studies under the best possible conditions. My ambition is to become a medical doctor in order to serve my community.
I would be grateful if you could consider my application. I have enclosed my school report and a recommendation letter from my principal.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Aminata Diallo

Yours faithfully,
What closing formula do you use when the letter starts with 'Dear Mr. Diop'?
Correction
Yours sincerely,
Why should you NOT use contractions in a formal letter?
Correction
Contractions (I'm, don't, can't) are informal. A formal letter requires professional language. Write: I am, do not, cannot.
Write the correct opening sentence for a letter of complaint about a broken product.
Correction
I am writing to complain about a product I purchased from your company on [date], which arrived damaged.
Put the parts of a formal letter in order: body / date / closing / salutation / sender's address / recipient's address.
Correction
1. Sender's address → 2. Date → 3. Recipient's address → 4. Salutation → 5. Body → 6. Closing
